THE PLOT:
When a group of teenagers having fun four wheeling accidently strikes a young boy and kills him. His vengeful father Ed Harley
goes to the local hermit slash witch saying he will do anything for revenge against the people who killed his boy. So, she
unleashes the undead creature known as Pumpkinhead.
Now the teens are on the run and the Pumpkinhead is on the hunt and as Ed begins to wonder if he made a mistake, it becomes
a question of can they escape the relentless hunter, alive?
ZEDD'S OPINION:
With a name like Pumpkinhead you would expect Lord Zedd making it grow to destroy the Power Rangers. But name aside, Pumpkinhead
is a pretty intense and scary movie. The atmosphere is dark and creepy, the witch is really ugly and unpleasant to look at
and Pumpkinhead is very cool. Now the bad part, I think Ed had a right to be upset about his son being killed but it was wrong
to seek vengeance for an accident. It was partly his fault for allowing him to get away from him and go check out the teenagers.
I mean, they didn't know he was there. It wasn't like he was crossing the street, it was a big open field. Anyway, that aside,
a pretty good first movie. 8 STARS
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
I agree with what Zedd said, the good and the bad points. But I think that the climax should be mentioned but without giving
it away. I for a party of one was somewhat disappointed with the climax what they had to do to get rid of the Pumpkinhead,
the sacrifice that was needed. Anyway, I give it 6 STARS.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ CREEPY ATMOSPHERE (You never know when the Pumpkinhead will jump out at you.)
+ PUMPKINHEAD DESIGN (The Pumpkinhead design works.)
+ ACTING (The acting works.)
+ PREMISE (The premise basically works.)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- ED (Ed was wrong to want revenge on a stupid accident, when he shared responsibility in that accident.)
- CLIMAX (Without giving it away, let's just say I wish they could have found another way.)
...AND FINALLY...
- FAN BASED (If you aren't a fan of Lance Henriksen or horror movies, then this isn't the movie for you.)
