THE PLOT:
A Doctor and A scientist go into the Rain Forest to find the beatle that will help finish his medical research and save thousands
of lives. But what Dr. Ash Mattley doesn't know is his partner Dr. Carl Wessinger is planning a double cross.
Two years later Ash is asked to look into a series of bizarre deaths in the rain forest. Local legend blames a demonic
creature called Balacau. But the truth is more terrorfying then any legend. The truth is Carl used the technology he stole
from Ash to resurrect an ancient creature, an alien from space that lived in the rain forest over a thousand years before
and Balacau has escaped and is stalking Ash and his former capturs.
ZEDD'S OPINION:
Some say that this is an "Alien" "Predator" rip off and I agree, it's totally a rip of ALIEN and PREDATOR,
but there is a ton of these rip off over the years and as rip offs go, this is watchable. The alien is cool, the story works,
the cast works. It has plenty of ass kicking action. Like I said as Alien/Predator rip offs go, you can do worse then DNA,
I give it...8 STARS
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
My beef with DNA is the CG effects. This movie tried to be cool and use CG effects but they went major cheap with it. There
is this one scene with a crashing helicopter, it's very dramatic as the three heroes run from the cartwheeling helicopter,
but it looked fake. It look like they were added to the scene. There was no sense of real danger. Plus the CG Balacau was
off color compared to the costume Balacau. These are my beefs and they both involve CGI. I give it....6 STARS
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ STORY (Even if it is a Predator rip off, it works.)
+ CREATURE (I don't care what anyone else says, I liked the design.)
+ CAST (The cast works.)
+ KICK ASS ACTION (The action in this movie rarely lets you take a breath.)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
-ALIEN/PREDATOR RIP-OFF (It's like totally a rip off of these movies, but there are worse rip offs of these movies out there.)
- CGI ISSUES (Between the helicopter and the CG monster, the CG need a lot more work.)
AND FIANLLY....
- FAN BASED (If you aren't big on the monster in the Jungle story, then this isn't for you.)
